Cited in Scopus: 5The Netherlands is a small European country with a population of 17.45 million (September 2020) distributed over 41,543 km2.1 There are 79 hospitals (in total, 109 locations), of which seven are university medical centers, one cancer center, and 28 large teaching hospitals. On average, the hospitals are within easy reach, as 99% of the Dutch inhabitants can reach a hospital by car within 30 minutes (Fig. 1).2
